Nine Blair High Students Named National Achievement Semifinalists
Students who advance to the scholarship round will receive college scholarships.
More students from Montgomery Blair High became National Achievement Scholarship semifinalists than any other school in the county, according to a release from Montgomery County Public Schools.
Twenty-two students from MCPS were recognized by the scholarship program, which awards college scholarships to African-American students from all over the country.
Nine of the recognized students were from Blair.

About 160,000 students from across the nation were considered for the scholarship program and 1,600 advanced to the semifinalist level. Semfinalists were evaluated by their Pre-SAT scores.
Most semifinalists will make it to the finalist level and about half of those students will be awarded scholarships, MCPS said.

- Rachel A. Darko
- Maya A. Davis
- Benjamin W. Eyring
- Simon T. Kapiamba
- Jordyn N. Schroeder
- Langston I. Taylor
- Mireille M. Verdonk
Students from Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Winston Churchill, Damascus, John F. Kennedy, Richard Montgomery, Northwest, Quince Orchard and Sherwood High Schools were also named semifinalists.
