New "Coalition of Purple Line Neighborhoods" Established to Coordinate Light Rail Issues

Representatives of a number of civic and homeowner associations representing a number of Montgomery County neighborhoods along the proposed alignment for the Purple Line light rail system--Coquelin Run, Chevy Chase/Edgevale, East Besthesda, Kentbury Drive. Town of Chevy Chase, Chevy Chase Hills, The Hamlets, Seven Oaks/Evanswood, North Woodside, Rosemary Hills, Lyttonsville, Park Hills, Sligo Branview--met in Chevy Chase to discuss ways in which neighborhoods could cooperate with regard to Purple Line planning, design and operations.

Among the common issues discussed by the group were visual impact, traffic, parking, pedestrian safety, tree conservation, walker/biker trails, noise & vibration, construction activity, and community participation during all phases of the Purple Line project.

The group will be named the "Coalition of Purple Line Neighborhods.
