Kites for Peace Flying for Our Politicians

The Meditation Museum dedicated "Kites for Peace" to the President and Congressional Leaders in peaceful support as they face a number of challenging decisions affecting all.

Over the past ten years, the Meditation Museum has spearheaded a number of community initiatives in the local area that focus on establishing peace, respect, cooperation and a deepened understanding of our role as world citizens to make this planet a better and stronger world in which to live.  These initiatives have included “Kites for Peace.”

Since 2008, children and adults around the country have decorated kites with words and images of peace as part of the "Kites for Peace” initiative sponsored by the Meditation Museum.  Over the years, the kites have been flown on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and are then sent, as a gesture of compassion and support, to children in places of distress and conflict around the world.  This year, on March 30, 2013, the Meditation Museum participated in the Cherry Blossom Kite Festival on the Washington Monument grounds and dedicated "Kites for Peace" to the President and Congressional Leaders in peaceful support as they face a number of challenging decisions affecting all.

“Kites for Peace” offers us an opportunity to come from an inner place of peace, to unite in a moment in time, and to appreciate nature, family, friends and community for an elevated cause.  When we change, the world changes.  Peace is an absence of waste and negative thoughts and feelings.  Our world is a reflection of our inner being.

The Spiritual Meaning of Flying a Kite

The kite flyer is the being, the peaceful star, the peaceful soul.

The String is a powerful thought filled with love for all, and the kite is the divine, the supreme.  Each time we fly a kite we feel liberated, happy and peaceful.  We look towards the sky and feel boundless, unlimited and pure.

The kites are being sent to children in need across the globe.  They are being sent by a 'kite friend' who wants them to know that they are being thought about and that good wishes are being flown their way... to never give up on peace or love.  One kite can make a world of difference in the life a child who is in darkness.

We thank the many families and children who visited our booth to decorate kites with messages of peace that will be shared with children throughout the world.
