Strike the Balance! By Sister Jenna

Far too often we find ourselves tapped, tipped, and toppled!  We have inherited a culture of "busyness" and bring work home, thus leaving us feeling overwhelmed and not enjoying life as we think we should.

These five simple steps will help you strike the balance and tip the scale towards a more balanced and carefree lifestyle.

1. Turn off the cell phone one hour after work or working out, or while in the car.  I know this is difficult, but we have to do it!  Make it your rule that it’s your downtime.

2. Create a “Pause for Peace” space at home or at the workplace that you can turn to and shut out all of the distractions of the day and just "BE" for a few seconds or minutes.  Every time you rest your mind, you are restoring energy.  Never forget that!

3. Practice Traffic Control, every hour on the hour with eyes opened, gently redirect your thoughts and visualize folks in your life and around you to be benefited.  Your mind will begin to experience a feeling of inner silence and peace and this will initiate more inner power.  This practice will allow you to disconnect to reconnect, like you do to get your WiFi to work faster

4. Reduce time spent on social media sites and "internet wander" – going onto other sites when you were searching for something specific is a waste of your time!  Keep this in your awareness.  Computers are energy vampires - they do not give energy they take energy.  The more you're on a computer, the more it’s feeding from you.  So, reduce internet wandering…and stop going on those shopping sites!

5. Time Management.  Stay focused on the task at hand and on your time constraints.  Do not let small talk distract you because this too is wastage!  Do not put off completing your tasks because you think that you can get it done later - wastage!  Or, don’t underestimate the time needed to complete a task,   thinking that it will only take 20 minutes, so you put it off until close to the deadline.  This never works!

Aim to cultivate a habit of finishing your work a day or two in advance.  ALWAYS!  I have a multitude of events that occur around me and I heavily rely on other people.  But, when I realize it’s not going to get done, I step up and step in because I value my leisure more than a complaint.  I have a habit of getting what I need done and not waiting on others so that I can find free time to welcome fortune into my life.

Good luck and may the force be always with you.  To help you de-stress and unwind, download the free “Pause for Peace” app which has lovely meditation commentaries, videos, inspirations and our daily America Meditating Radio Program, with featured guests to inspire your day…and feel free to like us on Facebook.

I wish you well and wish you light!
