Take precautions if you must spend much time outdoors today — a forecast of hot temperatures has led the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory this afternoon.

The heat advisory for the region will last from noon until 7 p.m.

Temperatures will climb to the upper 90s, with heat index values up to 105 degrees for most of the advisory period. This will increase the risk of heat-related illness in areas without air conditioning or outdoors.

See the local forecast at The Weather Channel.

The NWS encourages residents in the area to take extra precautions when outside:
  • Reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or into the evening.
  • Wear light weight or loose-fitting clothes.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Schedule frequent rest breaks in shade or air conditioning during outside work.
