Week Ahead in Weather: Sweet Relief

The National Weather Service is forecasting milder temperatures this week.

When are highs in the 80s considered a relief? When temperatures the week before shot up to almost 100 degrees and averaged about 92.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Montgomery and Prince George's counties are not expected to hit 90 degrees until the end of the week.

Until then: 

Today there is a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Otherwise, skies should be partly sunny with temperatures reaching the high 80s. Tonight there’s a 40 percent chance of rain and temperatures should drop to the low 70s.

There’s a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms all day tomorrow. Temperatures should reach the mid-80s during the day and drop to the low 70s Tuesday night.

Wednesday’s forecast shows a 30 percent chance of rain during the day and temperatures peaking in the mid-to-high 80s. Wednesday night will be cloudy with lows in the low 70s. 

No rain in the forecast Thursday, just sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-to high 80s. Thursday night temperatures drop to the low 70s with partly cloudy skies. 

On Friday, temperatures are expected to heat up a bit again, reaching 90 degrees with partly sunny skies.
