Delays and Weekend Track Work on Metrorail

Good news for Red Line riders this weekend.

Here's what's happening on Metrorail this weekend, according to a Metro statement:

Red Line:

From 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, through closing Sunday, Sept. 15, Red Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals (every six to 15 minutes) throughout the weekend.

Exception: During daytime hours, every other train will run between Silver Spring and Medical Center, rather than between Silver Spring and Shady Grove. As a result, riders traveling to or from stations north of Medical Center may experience an additional wait of up to six minutes.

Orange Line:

From 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, through closing Sunday, Sept. 15, trains will travel every 20 minutes.

Reconstruction of station platforms at Minnesota Avenue and Deanwood stations will continue, along with tie renewal, insulator renewal and structural improvements.

Before traveling, consult the trip planner at wmata.com to check for special schedules. You will experience the additional wait time on the platform. Once a train departs the station, it is not expected to encounter additional delays en route.

Blue Line:
