Report: Maryland Shortlists Teams to Build, Operate, Finance Purple Line

The chosen team will be the first team to participate in a public-private partnership in Maryland transit history, The Washington Post reported.

Maryland officials recently picked four teams of developers to compete to design, build, operate, maintain and help finance the $2.2 billion Purple Line light rail from Bethesda to New Carrollton, The Washington Post reported.

The four teams were chosen from a field of six. They'll compete for the first public-private partnership in Maryland transit history, The Post reported.

The four competing teams, according to The Post, are:

  • Maryland Purple Line Partners: Vinci Concessions, Walsh Investors, InfraRed Capital Partners, Alstom Transport and Keolis
  • Maryland Transit Connectors: John Laing, Kiewit Development and Edgemoor Infrastructure
  • Purple Line Transit Partners: Meridiam Infrastructure, Fluor Enterprises and Star America Fund
  • Purple Plus Alliance: Macquarie Capital and Skanska Infrastructure Development
