Ice Forecast for Friday Morning Commute

Friday morning's commute is forecast to be hazardous.

A freezing rain advisory is in effect for Montgomery County from 3 to 9 a.m. Friday. Frozen precipitation—up to a tenth of an inch of ice—is expected, according to the National Weather Service, which issued the advisory.

The Friday morning "commute could be problematic since the light snow is forecasted to change over to sleet and freezing rain," Maryland State Highway Administration Administrator Melinda B. Peters said.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang predicts that temperatures should be at or above freezing by about 10 a.m. Friday, and that Friday afternoon will be cloudy, with some light rain and wind, and high temperatures ranging from the upper 30s to the 40s.
