Purple Line Open House, Pesticides Re-Considered, WSSC Discusses Water Main Break

Here's a look at what's happening in and around Silver Spring this week.

Here are five things to know this week in Silver Spring:

1.) Temperatures will be in the high 70s on Monday, Sept. 9, and in the low 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to The Weather Channel.

2.) The Montgomery County Council’s Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee and its Public Safety Committee meet at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, for a work session about the Chevy Chase Lake water main break that led to mandatory water restrictions across Montgomery and Prince George's counties last March. Representatives of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission will talk about what they have learned regarding the cause of the break.

3.) Later in the morning on Monday, the Montgomery County Council’s Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee will discuss the use of pesticides around the county.

4.) Learn more about the Purple Line at an open house on Monday, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center (4805 Edgemoor Ln.  Bethesda).
