What’s At the Fillmore?

Upcoming Concerts at The Fillmore Silver Spring.

  This weekend at Fillmore starts tonight with a sold out concert with Smoker's Club Tour featuring Juicy J and Special Guests. There is still time to purchase tickets for The Dreamchasers Tour featuring Meek Mill, Reesa Renee's "Reelease" Live Concert with Special Guest Tabi Bonney, and Dave Brewer's "inside My Guitar" Family Show Remaining concerts in August: Tickets are $18. If you're looking for something very different, Reel Madrid vs. FC Barcelona will be performing at the venue Friday, Aug. 29. Shark Week: Free Advanced Screening of Sharkzilla in Silver Spring

Free Shark Week swag will be distributed before Friday's show.

  Silver Spring residents, get ready to bring out your beach towels and lounge chairs for a treat to an advanced screening of the show, Sharkzilla. Where: Fountain Plaza near Ellsworth Drive When: Friday, Aug. 10 at 8:30 p.m. Price: Free Show Synopsis: Discovery resurrects the largest shark to swim the oceans, Megalodon. This shark weighed at least 100,000 pounds and could have grown to be about 60 feet long.  Audiences will go on a journey with a team of engineers and paleontologists as they work to build a replica and test the strength of this prehistoric shark. The television show will premiere Monday, Aug. 13, at 10 p.m.

  Shark Week kicks off Sunday with week-long programming of the underwater predator on Discovery, but if you're chomping at the bit, you can enjoy a free sneak preview of Sharkzilla. Discovery resurrects the largest shark to swim the oceans, Megalodon. This prehistoric shark weighed at least 100,000 pounds and could have grown to be about 60 feet long. The Washington, D.C.-area professional theater company that earned raves for last season’s area premiere of “Candy and Dorothy.”

  Harold Pinter’s darkly comic short play The Dumb Waiter centers on Gus and Ben, two hit men waiting in an abandoned basement for their next victim. As the building’s dumbwaiter starts to move and the tension between the two men builds, it becomes clear that things are not as they seem.  More on the description here.   Need fun events to keep up your active ten occupied? You can join Teens on the move summer camp in Takoma Park. Teens get a chance to fish, go to the park, speed boat tour, rock climbing and go kart racing. To register, visit www.takomaparkmd.gov or call 301-891-7290. Takoma Park City residents fee: $110/week Non-Residents fee: $120/week Scholarships available for low-income families with proof. Scholarship reduces price of program depending on qualification.

Top Headlines: 74 People Displaced by Silver Spring Fire, Brickyard Lawsuit

 Three-Alarm Fire Displaces 74 Silver Spring Apartment Residents COLESVILLE—Dozens of apartments were damaged in a fire started by an electrical malfunction at a complex in the Briggs Chaney neighborhood. More than 100 firefighters quelled the three-alarm fire and rescued 17 residents from the burning building. The American Red Cross is working to find temporary housing for 74 residents whose homes were damaged. Read more on Colesville Patch.  B.F.
