Police say the car drove onto the curb and hit the victim.
A woman was fatally struck by a car Tuesday night after the vehicle left the parking lot of Orchard Center and hit her while she was walking along the sidewalk of Broadbirch Drive, according to Montgomery County Police. The collision occurred around 6:15 p.m. and the victim was taken to Crowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she died of her injuries, police said. Police said they are investigating why the driver of the car, a 2002 maroon Mitsubishi Montero, drove her vehicle onto the curb, across the grass and eventually along the sidewalk. Fire and Rescue Services sent three people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Occupants of a Colesville home in the 12800 block of New Hampshire Avenue are still able to live in their home after a car crashed into the front porch Monday night, according to a spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services. Police said that three cars were involved in the collision that resulted in one car landing on its left side, the driver's side, on the front porch of a single family home around 9:05 p.m. on Monday, April 23. According to Officer Rebecca Innocenti, spokesperson for police, witnesses said that a vehicle, possibly a Honda, traveling northbound on New Hampshire Avenue, suddenly switched lanes, hitting a Lexus car. Nelvis Garcia died after her vehicle rolled over on a sidewalk Wednesday afternoon, police said.
A Wheaton woman is dead after her car flipped over on a Colesville sidewalk Wednesday afternoon, according to Montgomery County Police. Police said Nelvis Garcia, 31, of Wheaton, was traveling east on Randolph Road near the intersection of Kemp Mill Road when her 2006 Nissan Altima attempted to move into the next lane of traffic. A silver car entered the same lane, police report, and the two cars may have made contact. Garcia’s vehicle then crossed through another traffic lane before landing on the adjacent sidewalk and rolling over, an investigation revealed. I agree....there have been several fatalities and othre accidents not fatal on that stretch of road. I've lived in that area 20 years. I got side swiped by a car just last week by a hit and run driver as we traveled west on Randolph Rd. When I heard about this poor woman, I thought, "That could have been me."   more ›
