Breast Cancer Awareness Month Events Guide

Find out how you can support Breast Cancer Awareness Month through one of these local events.

According to statistics from the Maryland affiliate of the Komen Foundation, Maryland has the fifth-highest breast cancer death rate in the nation, and in 2012 alone, 4,700 new cases will be diagnosed in the state and 810 women are likely to die. So, what makes New York-style different? First of all, it is called a pie, not a pizza, and the individual triangles are not “pieces” but “slices.” Flippin’ Pizza captures the thin, Neapolitan-style crust very nicely, by using water from New York and making their dough daily. Put a slice next to a piece of Chicago-style and it will look a lot like one of those “before and after” pictures that always accompany diet supplement …

Top 10 Favorite Family-Friendly Restaurants

Kid-friendly food and a friendly staff take the stress out of family dining.

I love to cook. Sometimes, Little Miss S will help me cook and bake. But lately, I've realized that I'm often too tired to even think about meal planning. So instead of stressing out over dinner, once or twice a week we'll head out to one of our favorite family-friendly restaurants . It's tough to find a place to eat that everyone can agree on, especially when you have kids with sensitive palates (which means all kids). On top of that, we love a friendly staff which dooesn't give us the "evil eye" when the baby throws his food on the floor. After some trial and error, our favorite family friendly restaurants are: As much as I love our favorites, it's easy to get into a dining rut. I've gathered a new list of family-friendly restaurants …
