Police are asking for help identifying the two men who reportedly robbed a 7-Eleven in Silver Spring last week.
Montgomery County police are investigating the May 15 robbery of a 7-Eleven store in Silver Spring, and they are asking for help with identifying two suspects shown in surveillance photos. The two men entered the 7-Eleven located at 11303 Lockwood Drive on May 15 at approximately 11:45 p.m., according to a news release from police. One positioned himself in the back of the store and the other near the front counter. One of the men then pushed an employee out of the way to grab cash from the register, police said. Both men then fled on foot towards the Giant located in the White Oak Shopping Center, police said. The suspects are described as black males between the ages of 18 and 25. Residential burglaries and armed robberies dominate the Montgomery County Police weekly major crimes summary for the downtown Silver Spring area. Crimes reported for the week of Mar. 26 to Apr. 3 are as follows: 8900 block of Brookville Road: A theft occurred on Saturday, Mar. 31 at approximately 4:30 a.m. 900 Block of Wayne Avenue: An armed robbery occurred on Saturday, Mar.31 at 3:45 a.m. There are three suspects: a black male, 5’5”- 5’7”, 130-150 lbs., age 18-20 with dreadlocks; a black male, age 18-20 and a black male, age 18-20. Roeder Road & Fenton Street: A robbery occurred on Saturday, Mar. 31 at 5:27 p.m. three males were arrested – one age 15 and two age 17. Five businesses were robbed or burgled in East Montgomery County and property was stolen, according to Montgomery County Police. Commercial robbery: Two separate food delivery personnel in the 1600 block of White Oak Lane were robbed on Tuesday, Nov. 22 and Wednesday, Nov. 23. In the first incident, two suspects obtained food from the victim, by wielding a knife and golf club. Both suspects fled on foot. In the second occurrence, three suspects, one with a handgun, approached the victim’s vehicle. The victim dropped the food and fled on foot. The robbery at the Silver Spring restaurant on 16th Street took place around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
The Spring Garden Restaurant in Silver Spring was robbed just after midnight last night, according to Montgomery County Police. Police said the two suspects confronted a man who had just locked the restaurant’s front doors and who was heading to his car at around 12:30 a.m. They made him get on the ground and threatened to kill him and one of the suspects was armed with a handgun, police said. When the man complied with their demand to hand over the restaurant’s keys, the suspects forced him back inside Spring Garden, police said. After threatening the man and his family, the suspects fled with cash taken from their victim and the restaurant, according to the police report. Glenmont teen shooting homicide; police issue arrest warrant for one of two suspects
Montgomery County Police remained busy in the week before the holidays, including the homicide investigation of a Glenmont teen on Dec. 21. The department's latest list of crimes was released on Thursday, Dec. 30. Reported crimes from the 3rd and 4th District were: Burtonsville A man was robbed at gunpoint by two men wearing masks on Saturday, 12/18 at 5:55 pm, in the 3300 block of Tapestry Circle. The unidentified suspects fled after demanding personal property. They are described as 5'7" to 5'9," one with a handgun. Ever wonder whether to run or lay low during a bank robbery? Police have tips on staying safe when conducting bank business. No. 1, they say, is don't play the hero.
After a rash of bank robberies near Colesville -- Chevy Chase bank in White Oak, a TD Bank in Briggs Chaney and a Sandy Spring in Ashton that was chronicled on YouTube -- 3rd District police officers are advising residents about how to help maintain personal safety while visiting area banks. Officer Joy Patil, Community Services Officer for the MCPD area that includes White Oak and Briggs Chaney, suggests that customers "look inside the bank before entering to determine if the interior of the bank appears safe."
