Squisito: ‘We Want to Contribute to Community, Not Just Sell Pizzas’

Burtonsville’s upcoming Squisito will be the Annapolis-based company’s first venture into Montgomery County.

Although Squisito is a chain of sit-down pizza restaurants based in and around Annapolis, the franchisee of the company’s upcoming Burtonsville location is a Montgomery County native. The restaurant in Burtonsville Town Square is scheduled to open the first week in July. “Just call me Kensington Johnny,” John Minnick, franchise owner of Squisito in Burtonsville, said with a laugh. He lives in Edgewater, but he’s got deep roots in the county. Minnick grew up in Kensington, where his older sister was part of Albert Einstein High’s first graduating class. After he graduated from the high school, he joined the Marines. He served in the military for eight years. Returning to Montgomery County, he lived in Forest Glen and owned a hardware store …

Burtonsville Squisito Is Pizza Chain's First Venture into Montgomery

The restaurant does not have a firm opening date, but will open "before July 1," according to the owner.

The wait for Squisito, a dine-in only pizza restaurant in Burtonsville Town Square, is almost over.  Franchisee John Minnick said the business will open to the public "Before July 1," although no firm date has been set.  The Burtonsville Squisito's will be the local chain's ninth location, but the first in Montgomery County. Eight other locations are located near Annapolis in Anne Arundel County. It will also be the first franchise for the company, which was started by Gennaro and Michele DiMeo, the former a native of Naples, Italy.  Minnick said the community's excited about the business. He said he gets calls everyday from locals either trying to order a pizza or find out when it will be open.  For now, the answer is just, "soon." Check …
