Thanksgiving parade brings out Maryland Youth Ballet, Latin dance groups, county officials and more.
Local residents packed the streets of downtown Silver Spring Saturday morning to catch the annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade. From Santa Clause floats to Latin dance groups to local school marching bands to elected officials, this year's parade was packed.

The 15th Annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade in downtown Silver Spring will be here before you know it and it's time for you to shine! The county is currently accepting applications for groups that are interested in performing during the parade. To apply, download and fill out the attached application. Bands, floats, dancers, clowns, beauty queens and animals will march through the streets of downtown Silver Spring heralding in the 2011 holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m.. Like last year’s parade, the 2011 version will reverse the route that had been tradition for a dozen years, traversing from Ellsworth Drive and One Veterans Place then south on Georgia Avenue, ultimately ending at Silver Spring Avenue. I was on Georgia Avenue and the crowds were healthy at the parade's start but dwindled significantly as the pace of the marchers was slowed by all the gaps.   more ›
