Two acres of county-owned land adjacent to the construction site of the Silver Spring police station will be developed for housing or community use, according to county officials.
A small parcel of land adjacent to the site of the soon-to-be relocated Silver Spring-3rd District police station will be developed for housing or community use, according to David Dice, head of Montgomery County's department of general services. County and police officials broke ground Wednesday on the nearly 35,000-square-foot facility that will serve as the headquarters for Montgomery County Police's 3rd District. Construction of a new building to serve as Montgomery County Police’s Silver Spring District headquarters in White Oak is officially underway. Police officers and county officials broke ground on the 32,844-square foot project Wednesday afternoon. The station will be located at 1002 Milestone Drive, near the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Route 29, and will serve the police department’s 3rd District, which extends up the Route 29 corridor from downtown Silver Spring to Burtonsville.
