Wind gusts of up to 50 mph could down trees and power lines, according to the National Weather Service.
A wind advisory is in effect for much of the Washington metropolitan region – including Montgomery County -- through 6 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Expect winds of 25 to 35 mph, according to NWS, with gusts of up to 50 mph. Wind gusts that strong may make driving difficult, and gusts could down trees and power lines, according to the advisory. Winds will be picking up mid-morning and will remain strong through late afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Friday, beginning at 3 p.m.
No snow on the February forecast, but on Thursday the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch, and today, a wind advisory. The wind advisory begins at 3 p.m. Friday and ends at midnight. Winds may be 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Thursday's fire weather watch had been extended to Friday as of Thursday night, but was canceled Friday morning. A fire weather watch indicates conditions that could lead to the onset and spread of wildfires.

Friday's breezy wind forecast yesterday might turn dangerous with gusts up to 50 mph. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for much of the Washington region, including Montgomery, Frederick and Howard Counties and the city of Washington, D.C. Winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph. The advisory will end at 6 p.m. Friday. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution," said the alert.
