UPDATE: Montgomery County Avoids East Coast Blizzard, High Winds Expected for Today

Other portions of the eastern seaboard received more than 20 inches of snow yesterday.

Update, Dec. 27th 10:30 a.m.: The heavy winter storm left parts of the East Coast under more than 20 inches of snow yesterday, but Montgomery County and most of the D.C. Metro were only dusted by snow in the afternoon and evening. A wind advisory is in effect for today until 9 p.m. The National Weather Service expects winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts of 45 to 50 mph. Gusts of that speed can affect driving ability. Pepco's website warns that high winds can cause outages. Currently less than 5 people are without power in 20902. Update, Dec. 26 12:55 p.m.: The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.
