NWS: Montgomery County Under Flash Flood Watch Wednesday
Heavy rain will hit the DC region Wednesday afternoon and evening.
A flash flood watch is in effect for Montgomery County and the DC region from 3 p.m. Wednesday "through late tonight," according to an alert from the National Weather Service. A flash flood watch means that "conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding," according to the NWS. The NWS predicts one to one-and-a-half inches of rainfall in a short period of time. The Capital Weather Gang at the Washington Post estimates that the worst of the storm will hit the DC region between 3-7 p.m. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services warns drivers to "Turn Around - Don't Drown" when they come to a stretch of road covered in water.
