My New Years resolution on January 1, 2009 was to make my wardrobe consist only of clothes I made myself out of recycled materials, using no electricity. More than two and a half years later, I’m still working on it—but I’m pretty darn close! (My 2010 New Year’s resolution was to make less ambitious goals).

Today, I teach sewing classes at Think Outside the Store, a clothing art studio in downtown Silver Spring where local residents can learn to make their own unique, affordable, ecofriendly clothing and accessories.
