Zombie Walk, Oktoberfest, Halloween at the Medical Museum

  • Where: Walk starts at Sligo and Georgia avenues, Silver Spring, by Jackie's Restaurant (8081 Georgia Ave.).
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 26. Gathering time is 8 p.m.; walk time is 9 p.m.
  • Price: Free.
  • Description: Take a zombie walk through downtown Silver Spring. The walk starts at Jackie's Restaurant and ends at the AFI Silver Theatre on Colesville Road, where some zombies may attend a 10:15 p.m. show of the classic zombie movie Return of the Living Dead. About 2,000 of the walking dead are expected to come out for the walk, Jackie's Restaurant reported. Before the walk and all night, Jackie's will offer zombie-themed specials. Guests who dine in costume at Jackie's will receive a 20 discount, and there'll be a special menu of zombie refreshments at the Sidecar next door.  

Halloween at the Medical Museum

  • Where: National Museum of Health and Medicine, 2500 Linden Ln., Silver Spring.
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m.
  • Price: Free and open to the public.
  • Description: The National Museum of Health and Medicine invites little ghouls and their families to get into the Halloween spirit with a variety of activities related to skulls. Costumes are welcome. Reservations are not required. For more information, call 301-319-3303.

 Redwood's Oktoberfest

  • Where: Bethesda Row (one block west of Woodmont Avenue between Bethesda Avenue and Elm Street).
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 26, 1 to 7 p.m.
  • Price: Tickets are $29 for a limited time and can be purchased by visiting www.redwoodbethesdaevents.com.
  • Description: Join in on the fun at Redwood Restaurant's third Oktoberfest, featuring local and craft beers including DC Brau, Flying Dog, New Belgium, Starr Hill, Sam Adams and Miller Lite. Enjoy live music with performances by Taylor Carson, Cheaper Than Therapy, South Rail Band and the WeatherVanes. Local Restaurants will serve festive fall food. New this year, a Kid Zone will have a petting zoo, an arts-and-crafts area and a kid band performance from the Bach to Rock music school. A portion of the proceeds with go toward the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 
BOO 3! Chevy Chase Center Family Fall Celebration
  • Where: Chevy Chase Center (Wisconsin Circle, Chevy Chase)
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 26, noon to 3 p.m.
  • Price: Free.
  • Description: Celebrate fall with family and friends at Chevy Chase Center's annual fall festival "BOO 3." Live staged music by popular boy band Sidekick, a beautiful train for children's rides through the sidewalks of the center, face painters, moon bounce, trick-or-treat through stores. Google Goodies at Potomac Pizza and free cupcakes at Frosting, A Cupcakery while supplies last. And, fee pumpkins while supplies last.
